Mercurey, a big name amongst prestigious Burgundy villages, is an ideal base to explore the famous wine route.
This 19th century ‘Haussmann’ style château, covering 600 m2, situated amongst the vineyards offers an exceptional panorama over the surrounding countryside . Its landscaped garden covers 4000m2 with a 5x10m heated pool at the foot of the vineyards !
The Château has 8 luxury bedrooms (3 of which are VIP rooms). All 8 bedrooms have their own private ensuite bathroom. There is a spacious lounge decorated with a 19th century panoramic fresque, a vast dining room, well equiped kitchen, winter garden, gym and relaxation room, sauna, steam-room...
A courtyard closed by a gate allows 5 cars to park infront of the château. Behind the château the terraced garden looks across to the pool area and the vineyards beyond.
A stone stairway, hidden amongst fig trees, gives access to the bottom of the garden with its dwarf fruit trees and borders of wild lavender.
The summer house, just near the pool, is equipped with a pool kitchen including refrigerator, sink and a ceramic hob plus all the necessary glasses and crockery. Next to the summer house is the stone barbecue inviting poolside lunch parties and aperitifs during long summer evenings…a real heavenly corner !
The ‘Haussman’ design gives the château an unusual style for the area. The façade is richly decorated with mouldings and sculptures, and the central round tower, which serves as a winter garden, adds a romantic touch.
All the original features have been conserved in the lounge, dining room and bedrooms. : the wooden floors, the moulded ceilings and wood panelling aswell as the fireplaces, doors and windows.
From the balcony on the tower,accessible via one of the VIP bedrooms, take in the superb view across to the village of Mercurey and the surrounding vineyards.
You are sure to appreciate the spacious leisure area in the basement with its gym, sauna and relaxation area. The decoration and furnishings are been chosen with greatest care, a successful mix of traditional and contemporary styles.
5 bedrooms have 180x200cms double beds and 2 bedrooms (on the second floor) have two beds of 90 x 200cms that can be put together.
3 bedrooms are on the first floor and the other 5 are on the second floor, all with their own en-suite bathrooms.
The beds are made up for your arrival.
There is also a Child bedroom composed of a child bed (180cmX 80cm) and a baby bed, connected to an adult bedroom. Two folding baby beds are available on request in the Château.
The 3 very spacious VIP bedrooms are on the first floor with a view out across the parc and the vineyards…one of the rooms has a 10m2 balcony !

The 8 bedrooms each have their own en-suite bathroom. Stylishly fitted with your comfort in mind, each bathroom has a WC, a washbasin, and either a shower or bath.

You will not be disturbed by traffic or other noise.
The lounge has a fireplace which date back to the 19th century. An electric fireplace system will enable you to make the most of evenings around the fire with family or friends, without the trouble to have to carry wood and start the fire...
There is a traditional fireplace in the dining-room where you can made wood-fire. Wood is provided, included in our rental price (this applies during cold seasons).
You will appreciate the 19th century fresque which covers all four walls of the lounge. The theme, ‘Eden’, is hand-painted on paper as was the practise in prestigious households in those days. This famous wall paper is exhibited in the ‘Musée d’Orsay’ in Paris.
The central tower is arranged as a winter garden and, just next to the lounge, it serves as a doorway out to the garden and the pool. This is the smokers area as smoking is prohibited in the rest of the château.
The lounge is extremely light and airy, with large windows opening out onto the parkland. The moulded ceilings, the wood panelling and the oak floor are original and give a genuine atmosphere.
Books in the library are at your disposal during your stay.
An English style pool table, a big screen high definition television with Sattelite channels, a blu-ray DVD player plus a Playstation 3 will ensure evenings full of entertainment.
The lounge can be adapted slightly to accommodate meetings and seminars.
The dining table can seat up to 18 people. As in the lounge, the large windows go to create a light and airy dining room showing off the beautiful moulded ceiling, the original wood panelling and the old oak floor.
The glasses, crockery and cutlery, carefully selected by Sylvia, are at your disposal in the sideboard.
A breakfast corner is available close to the dining table: traditional coffee machine, Senseo coffee machine, Georges Clooney's favorite "Nespresso" coffee machine and an electric kettle.
The Château galley kitchen is fully equipped including : an oven, a microwave oven, a hob with 5 rings plus extractor fan, a dishwasher, a large refrigerator, a freezer, a toaster...
A full range of kitchen equipment, utensils and accessories is provided aswell as tea towels.
An assortment of herbs, spices and condiments are at your disposal. Dishwasher products are supplied.
2 high chairs are available.
A laundry room is available with wash machine and dryer. There is also an iron and board. Washing liquid for the wash machine is provided.
We have tried to think of everything to keep the young and old amused all year round !
The pool, which is 5mx10m, is heated. It is open 1st April until 31 October. The shallow end is 1 metre deep and goes down to around 1.90m.
Spend hot afternoons lazing around the pool on one of the sunloungers…while the summer house and garden table and chairs invite you to have lunch by the pool or dine outside on balmy summer evenings.
Our maintenance staff will call by during your stay to ensure the upkeep of the pool and the terrace.
(*The swimming-pool heating system is an areothermal heat pomp, the most used system for heating an outside pool). The pomp uses calories in the air to heat the water of the pool circulating in the pump, therefore, we cannot garantee that the pool will be at 28°C if the temperature of the air is below 12°C.)
A gym is available for your use in the basement of the Château. It is equipped with two exercise bikes, a rowing machine, a weights machine, dumbars and mats. Relax afterwards in the armchairs, take a drink or have a game of table football.
Adjacent is a spacious steam room, a Sauna and a bathroom with shower.
A host of board games, in French, are available in the bookcase in the lounge : Scrabble, Monopoly, chess, draughts, card games etc.
The château offers 4 Full HD televisions and 4 blu-ray DVD players :
· A high definition giant screen in the lounge equipped with a blu-ray DVD player and full HD sattelite reciever. Play station 3 and games.
· A high definition screen in each VIP bedroom (3), also with its own blu-ray DVD player.
Wireless high speed (fiber) internet connection is available free of charge in the whole château.
Explore the area by bike ! Four bicycles and two child seats are provided at no extra charge.
We have a Pétanque Lane in the garden. 16 ‘pétanque’ boules can be found at the château incase you fancy a boules contest between friends !
There is a traditional barbecue just next to the summer house by the pool.
There is a "Ping-pong" table in the garden and a Giant Trampoline. We supply rackets and balls.
Enjoy your evenings in the billard room just next to the living room.
There are 3 public tennis courts in the village of Mercurey.
Two local ladies have their own small businesses and offer their services for cleaning, babysitting, dishes, help with cooking and other activities.
So, if you need any help keeping the Chateau clean while enjoying your vacation, please do not hesitate to contact them.
They invoice you for their services 20 euros per hour (all charges included), their intervention is for a minimum of 4 consecutive hours.
